Jeff Bear - Biography Jeff Bear, a First Nations producer/writer, is one of
Canada's leading factual storytellers. His work in the media arts spans
a long history of producing, directing and writing for network television. Documentary Resume Bear recently completed 26 half hour documentaries about
Haida Art shot in the north Pacific island of Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte
Islands). The series is called Ravens and Eagles. Burnt Church: Obstruction
of Justice was the winner of the 2001 APTN/Telefilm award for best English
language production and was awarded at the 2001 Banff Television TV
Festival. In the past Jeff has produced a wide range of current affairs
television documentaries: credited for at least 12 half hour documentaries
and specials for the CBC Journal; four documentaries with an international
co-production of TV Ontario's Storytellers of the Pacific; and he was
the head writer for a 6-part series for the Knowledge Network in British
Columbia called Pulling Together. Most recently Jeff created and produced
a multiple award winning current affairs series in Vancouver BC, CTV's
First Story. While at First Story, Jeff directed The Final Journey of
Bill Reid., and is the winner of a 99CANPRO and 2000 LEO Award for Best
Information Series. Jeff Bear now runs the documentary company: Urban Rez Productions in Vancouver BC, Canada. Jeff is a full blooded Maliseet and a fluent aboriginal language speaker.
