Duncan McCue (Anishinaube) is a national reporter for CBC-TV News in Vancouver and his current affairs documentaries are featured on the CBC’s flagship news show, “The National” and the 6-o’clock news show, “Canada Now.”
The average, two-minute, news stories are limiting in terms of storytelling and, Duncan told his producer that he was more interested in pitching compelling stories that spoke deeply of human struggle, especially those of concern to Indigenous people. He has succeeded in almost all his story pitches about Indigenous issues, and applies the same journalistic principles to them all.
Duncan continues to challenge the bias of mainstream news that is presented to Canadians, and is adamant that it must change. His presence in the newsroom bears testimony to this ethic, and his determination to ensure the inclusion of the Indigenous voice.
