Carla Robinson

Carla Robinson (Haisla/Heiltsuk) is a highly visible and successful national “anchor” with CBC Newsworld, she also hosts The First Peoples Edition of Absolutely Canadian, and a monthly CBC educational production, News in Review.

In this episode we follow Carla as she tackles the hectic demands of her job in the big city. We also spend some time with her at home in her beloved Kitamaat, BC. She tells us what it means to be working in mainstream media, and why she chooses to do so.

She strives to bring stories and news of Indigenous people to mainstream audiences, in an oft-indifferent world. She is good at what she does, and she has the opportunity and determination to do something she believes in – tell stories and promote an authentic Indigenous presence and voice to a wide and diverse audience.
